How-to…. Internet

How to reduce network usage in tariffs and increase surfing time???

In tariffs we usually and especially in India, have a big problem about the internet usage. Service provider gives 1024 MB free usage but I always have double of that in the month end. So, I have to pay more bill. This repeated for 6 months or so. Then I decided to find some way to stop this because when I used to start my Internet connection of 2 MBPS, I would see, within a half hour that almost 650 MB of 1024 MB would have been used up. Follow the following tricks and you might reduce the usage to large extent. (If due to your incapability to fully understand the instructions or because of your computer you fail to follow the instructions properly and cause damage to your computer that the owner of this blog or the blog provider or the blog itself is not responsible.)

Before starting the Internet,  start a full scan from an antivirus. You should have reputed and trusted antivirus. If you have any virus or trojan or spyware or any kind or malicious software, then you must remove it immediately using remove or similar kind of option provided in your anti-virus software. If you don’t have any kind of these options, then it is highly recommended that you change the anti-virus that you are currently using. According to me, I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and I am fully satisfied with it. You may also use the same. If you have any virus caught, then that virus must be using your internet connection causing increase in usage.

Start the task manager. To start task manager, right-click on task bar and click ‘Task Manager’ from the pop-up menu. Click on ‘Processes’ Tab. Following windows will be displayed.

Notice the 7th item under the Image Name. It says Google Installer. Right-now, I am not having anything installed or no process is running in front of me but still, this says that Google installer in working. I have freshly restarted the computer and so it is obvious that I have not clicked on anything that says install.

The above statement displays on my computer, You may not have same thing. If you are not installing item or if you have not restarted the computer after updating it, then you can end those programs from the processed tab by selecting it and clicking on End Process Button.

Note: Ending system processes might make your computer unstable. Do not remove anything unless you are sure that it is not useful to you. If you end a system process like ‘explorer.exe’ then you might lose communication with computer. If you end any important program which makes your computer unstable or useless, then the blog owner/writer/provider is not responsible for the damage. So, Do it wisely. Do not end process that do not have a description, only end those processes that you might think are useless. If you are running internet explorer then in process you will see ‘iexplore.exe’ If you end that the running internet explorer will be closed without any warning. Do not end any modules unless you are sure about it. Do not ever end the Desktop Window Manager.

Doing so might reduce the unauthorized use of internet. If you are running windows Vista, then you must keep the User Account Control always on. This will prevent applications from running automatically without your permission.
